About

The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort is all about comfort and relaxation, from the moment you set foot on the grounds it's as if you were transported from the desert surrounding the resort to a splendid oasis. The ginormous hotel is the centerpiece for this resort, with 884 rooms spread throughout 8 floors, a spa, restaurant, and a packed fitness center you might not even have to leave the hotel to enjoy your stay. Of course, if you do find yourself wanting to experience more of the resort they have 20 tennis courts situated in a complex opposite the building as well as 2 golf courses and 3 pools with one being more for the younger kids. It may not be as crazy and exotic as some other resorts, but it sure does feel a bit like paradise.

Tennis Facilities

Being located near palm springs, you would expect that this resort would be all about tennis and that’s exactly right. They have a large array of tennis courts with 15 hard courts, 3 clay, and 2 grass although only some are lighted. Along with this they also have a fully stocked and well-maintained pro shop where you can rent equipment or ball machines.

Tennis Programs

The highlight of the tennis program at the JW Marriott is their incredible PBI show, unlike anything you’ve ever seen before its heralded as the “Harlem Globetrotters of tennis” with professionals performing a variety of ball and racquet skills that are fun for the whole family. Besides the incredible entertainment, the staff also host a variety of skill drills and clinics throughout the week and also available is player matching where the coaches will try to set you up with players in the same skill range as you for proper matches. They recently just added a new pickleball program for newcomers and casual players alike so no matter what you want to do tennis-wise you’ll find everything you need right here.

Other Amenities

If you’re wanting to enjoy more than just tennis well the JW Marriott offers 2 incredible golf courses that weave in and around the little canal that runs through the entire resort. Also located by the canal are 2 stunning pools sitting right next to each other and just outside the back of the hotel. You can also take a gondola ride through the river that starts in the hotel itself and leads all around the grounds so you can experience the beauty of the whole place. If that’s not relaxing enough for you then head to their luxury spa where they offer all kinds of treatments and massages. For those that want a bit more exercise in their day, you can use their top-tier fitness center that's packed with rows of machines of all kinds and offers all sorts of fitness classes like yoga and even a morning power walk session.

Accommodation & Dining

The rooms at the Desert Springs resort are fairly typical hotel rooms each with a balcony that overlooks the surrounding area but they do also offer larger suites if you want more room or are staying with a larger party. In terms of dining, there are 6 restaurants and a bar. The Mikado Japanese steakhouse offers more authentic Japanese style dining while the Rockwood Grill is a lot more traditional American food and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is also a sushi bar and their Time & Temperature Innovation kitchen which is open every Friday and Saturday and serves an always changing 5-course tasting menu.
