I was top 50 in the world using mental strength that I was taught at a really young age.

I had the pleasure of playing Chris Evert, when I was 18 years old, I played for two hours and 20 minutes on a clay court in Florida. Clay in Florida is not the greatest surface for my game. But one thing that I did really well against Chris Everett was I stayed in an incredibly tough match, to just fight and do whatever I could to stay out there as long as I could, I decided that I wasn't going to let a number one player in the world beat me quickly. And so as my goal to stay out there and not make errors, and to make her win and earn every point, I actually got to be her traveling partner for two and a half years.

So, one thing that really I learned from that is, maybe you're not going to win the match. But you're going to do your best to take your time and to fight and to get a lot of balls in the court. Start counting maybe you count to five or six or seven against Chris ever you needed to count to 12. What happened, in turn, was you win some points, you win some games, and then eventually, you come off the court proud that you did your best to at least make someone play a long tough hard match.

After that match. I got a phone call. And she said because of my fight and determination she would like to take me and her coach on the tour. So it was a very important lesson about using my mental strength to just stay out there and fight against a really great player.
